Networking

Secondments

Staff exchange visits are foreseen to facilitate knowledge sharing among the partners and use cutting-edge biophysical equipment and research techniques throughout their travels.
In total, 12 secondments (SCDMs) are planned among partners for the entire duration of the project, with total duration estimated ~6months (~0,5m/SCDM), to exchange best practice and experience on S&T ERDF based Infrastructures.

Collaborative Research Projects

NIC will initiate 3 new research projects annually (1 per partner per year) in competitive research fields. The consortium will apply new integrative research approaches and methods using the available tools of all partners. By participating in the events and expanding their efforts at the brokerage events, MILESTONE partners aim to build sustainable, collaborative links and joint research strategies on challenging, top-priority life science research projects.

Training Schools

Three Training Schools (TSs) will be jointly organised by MILESTONE partners and are envisaged to take place in years 1, 2, and 3, with the following topics

TS#1

Conformational dynamics studies of DNA/RNA/oligonucleotides and intrinsically disordered proteins will be organised by NIC (Slovenia, Ljubljana).

TS#2

Cancer, embryonic stem cells, and Advanced light Imaging will be by MU (Czechia, Brno).

TS#3

Virology and Antiviral Research by AMU (France, Marseille).

Workshops

Two workshops (WSs) will be organised to train local researchers on the subjects:

WS#1

“Artificial Intelligence in Structural Biology” organised by UPAT (Greece, Patras).

WS#2

“Imaging techniques in Life Sciences” organised by UPAT (Greece, Patras), includes microscopy and in-cell NMR methods.

Fund raising

MILESTONE sets a plan to stimulate cross-border synergies among beneficiaries to:

MILESTONE networking & steps to success in fund raising.

  • Increase cooperation among partners, to improve consortium’s ability to identify calls of mutual interest for joint applications and to address the HE objectives in Pillars I & II and WIDERA.
  • Strengthen the international position of the widening countries’ beneficiaries through collaboration with the advanced (AMU) partner,
  • Improve access to excellent EU R&I consortia, RI networks, and Research Communities, and
  • Catalyse innovation for society translating novel knowledge acquired by widening partners through or independently of the MILESTONE project into breakthrough solutions or services with broad societal and biotech industry benefits.
